My husband, Mark, and I met at BU. I had a secret crush on “Starbucks guy,” an employee at the campus Starbucks whose name eluded me for a while since he didn’t wear his required name tag.
After a few months of secretly crushing on him, blowing a ton of money on over-priced fancy drinks (though I honestly prefer Dunkin), giving him an extra 50 cent tip and some smiles at the register, I assumed my crush was so obvious to him. It was not.
I finally took matters into my own hands and found out through a close friend that his name is Mark Shannon. I found and friended him on Facebook… he sent me a message right away… we had our first date at Marley’s… and the rest is history.
He asked me to marry him at the fountain in Bloomsburg and gave me a priceless family heirloom, his great-grandmother’s engagement ring.
Since we are big supporters of local music, the arts, and supporting local business, we had our ceremony and reception at the Moose Exchange on Nov. 17, 2012. Halfway through the reception, we opened the basement bowling alley and I changed out of my white dress to a polka dot one to match “my girls.”
As our matching tattoos show, Mark and I are truly “sole” mates.
